I rejected the offer from Viztel

I think I won’t be going to work in Viztel KLCC!!

This is one of the most important decision I have made today. After calling Mr Zainal, the CEO of Camtech Asia Sdn Bhd, I think I’m going to accept the offer made by them, and NOT with Viztel.
Camtech will be moving to Mont Kiara end of this month and that played a major role in the selection.

After weighing out several factors, again.. I think working with Camtech as a stepping stone for my career suits me the best. These are the offers made to me from both companies

Viztel
1) basic salary – RM1900/month with 6 month probation and new package will be offered according to performance
2) medical and paid leave only available after the six month period
3) working hours – 9am till 630pm daily, 1st and 3rd Saturdays (10am to 2pm)
4) culture – super Chinese workaholics
5) post – Software Engineer

Camtech
1) basic salary –RM1800/month [plus rm100 parking allowance]
2) medical and paid leaves available
3) working hours – 9am till 5pm daily; flexible hours
4) culture – Melayu yang rilekerz
5) post – Technical Consultant


The reasons of choosing Camtech is because of the work culture that I have understood and experienced before, and also because I have a built-rapport between all the managers and staffs. The salary was not the main issue as I will have further negotiations with Mr Zainal tomorrow. Moreover, Camtech did a favour to me by giving me an A for my internship and also I did not have to submit any CV or application letter to get a job here. It was that easy! The other factor is that Camtech has shifted to Mont Kiara [ lame reason rite?haha] and also I can choose the date whenever I like to start working. During my internship, I can do whatever I like and my bosses will just ignore it hahaha. Ok, the other reason is that Camtech will be having a project in Indonesia/Australia in the next few months and Mr Zainal said maybe I will be posted there.

Viztel has a 6-month probation period and according to my sister, it is quite a lengthy period. She said that if I chose VIztel as a short term career, a 6-month probation is such a waste of time since I’ll be leaving them also in future. Furthermore, no paid leaves and medical for the first 6 months and she also said that other companies usually have a probation period for only 2-3 months. Working till 630pm and working on weekends also was the main factor of not choosing Viztel as my first career.

The money was not the main factor, but then it was the environment that made me decide. Anyway, for now, I do not need to find a place in KL anymore and because the condo in Mutiara Damansara will be completed by July, maybe I will be staying there first with my sister. If I can pancing my mum to get me a rented apartment somewhere in Damansara, that will be surely a waste of money but exciting, I will do it.

So, no VIztel for now. I will be going to reject their offer tomorrow and accept Camtech’s offer. Wish me luck because I want to negotiate the salary in camtech to RM1900.

1) have to wake up early [i will need to set my sleeping time to the unproper way that is waking up in the morning and sleeping at nite]

4) no huha huha after graduating
5) money will be spent on useful things only, darn!

It’s still unbelievable. I got a fuckin job and till today I still can’t believe it. It was like a fuckin dream come fuckin true.. [I’m gonna shout man]. But it is still under consideration, the story goes like this.

Eventually I was asleep that time and when I woke up, I called the voice mail that is '121' by default and it says something like this, “Hi Arien, my name is Sherlyn form Viztel, you came for the interview last month right, please return my call at 03-2xxxxxxx [kept for private reasons]. So after completing my revision on the subject called KM [konek masin], I had a quick bath with the 4 of us [me,pa,c,mmq]. In the toilet, the session was so noisy as everyone was so fucked up and was questioning and creating useful strategies to memorize the notes given. Things such as Ui, ACi Ke TaMPaL[for 7 layers of KM], CuCOR Dewan Makan[for KM Life Cycle], CIOM [for factors effecting the lifecycle, POT, DOGU, and lost more. It was hilarious.

2.20pm; 22 May 2006 – called Viztel at the number given and spoke to Sherlyn

Arien - Hye, my name is Arien and I’d like to speak to Sherlyn please.

Sherlyn - Helo Arien, Sherlyn speaking.. bla2.. remember the interview bla2.. we would to say that we accepted your application and we will offer you a job as a Software Engineer. Can you come and pick up the offer letter?

Arien - Thanks. Hmm, I’m currently on my way to the exam hall for my exam, can I call u back later to confirm

Sherlyn - Sure.

In the exam hall, I was like damn; I managed to get a job. It’s amazing. So I started dreaming a lot, and did not focus on the exam actually, haha.

The question right now is, whether to accept the job in Viztel or to work in Camtech[my internship company]. I have considered many aspects and I still cannot make the final decision. Here is the thing..

Working in Viztel means that I will work in Petronas Tower Two. It will be a bit stylish and super workerzz but also means more money to spend everyday. Consider having lunch+dinner for 15bucks per day and also 3-5bucks for parking expenses. Meanwhile working in Camtech, I can have my lunch for a mere 3quids and also free parking available. In a simple kindergarten calculation, food and parking for Viztel will make my pocket suffer by spending around RM600 per month on food. And I will only be spending like 150 per month in Serdang. But, Huda lives in Bangi so double figures for lunch and dinner. So it will be about 400 per month. So, 200 bucks saved but I will be working with a boring place lah for sure – no chicks to watch, not so voguish etc.

The second factor is the environment. I have been a damn lazy fella in Camtech for the 8 month internship and still feel quite embarrassed when I meet my SV [as she gave me an A]. But each and every one of the employee is very friendly and understanding. How can I find a better employer that allows their employees to come at 11am everyday and have a 3-hour lunch break daily? The best part is the CEO is my dad’s best friend. Anyway he has a company in OZ and when I was doing my internship, he told me that if I work there, I will have a chance to work in OZ as well, damn it! Back to Viztel, it seemed that a Chinese based company will mean one thing – DISCIPLINE and DISCIPLINE! So, that is the other consideration I have to make. Tough but it is a choice of life and death.

The third consideration is travel expenses. Going to KLCC from Klang via Federal Highway is like driving to Kelantan using the old convetional road[no highways]. It will take around 2 flat hours during the peak hours, meaning 645am-8am and 445pm-8pm. Hell no! So, as an alternative, using NKVE is going to be the only choice [it’s about 1hour++ to KL]. The total fuel and toll = RM500+200, that is approximately RM700. Camtech is also quite far, it is about 50kms from Klang except it has no traffic jams along the way[using the LDP route]. The expenses for fuel and toll are merely the same. But, Camtech will be transferring to Damansara around next year, so cost of living will be huge too. It will be the same as in KLCC.

Back to the cost of living:

Viztel = RM1300 [fuel, toll, flood, parking; cigs + leisure not yet included]

Camtech Serdang = RM1100 [fuel, toll, food for two; cigs + leisure not yet included]

Camtech Dsara = RM 1300 [ quite the same as in KL]

The last factor is the salary that will be offered. Viztel will provide a small monthly salary around 1900-2200 bucks. And the problem is, I have not yet contacted Camtech but I asked my dad to do so, hahaha. If Camtech can provide around 2200-2400 then it will be worthwhile but if it is lower, then its Viztel for sure as I will gain much experience from a different company. By the way, Camtech is a super hard core java enterprise based, it will be damn hard!

If I am going to work in Damansara, Serdang or KL, I will definitely not going to reproduce the greatness moments of driving 2 hours a day like I did during the internship period. I will definitely find a small cozy apartment somewhere. The problem is, where??!! Ok, the first option is to stay at my parents’ new condo in Mutiara Damansara. Free, of course, near to all the important places, super luxurious but still no freedom! Moreover the condo will be completed somewhere in July and is not furnished yet It will be such a hassle and boring life there. So out of story!

So I think I want to find a small 2-room apartment in KL, not in the middle of KL for sure as it will cost me around RM1000++ per month. Somewhere a bit outskirt but still nearby to KL, like UK, Melawati, Setiawangsa and so on. It must be nice and warm, nevermind if it is not furnished, have good view and is very easy to find. I think something around RM700-RM999 will be considerate. So, anyone of you knows any apartment like this do contact me please. I do not want terrace houses or ugly flats like Nazya’s, Mimi’s, Shiham’s, Jub’s, Mundoq’s, no hard feelings dude. I have complaint about this a long time ago. Something like Epoi’s would be preferable as I plan to stay there for quite some time. The other plan is to build a campsite outside 11A, as Giggsy said he would join me them so that I will be not lonely. Thanx to C, and Pa as well for the offer. haha.

So, basically the apartment I am searching for is:

1) Somewhere around KL or near to KL
2) Cozy, warm, nice and well built
3) Around 700-1000 per month
4) Easy to find and have a good view
5) The neighbours of the apartment are "good neighbours" - do not give a damn what u are doing
6) No need to be furnished

Why I decided to find a place to rent rather than driving? It came close to three important factors. Number uno, I hate driving in traffic jams [I’m driving a manual gear transmission vehicle with a non-ergonomic clutch]. Secondly, I hate driving long hours in the morning and also in the evening while feeling tired and sleepy. Final factor is that the cost of transportation from Klang is about 600-700 bucks, better find a place to stay and save more energy for the following morning to increase productivity and work ethics, N1.

It will be a burden to work in KL or Damansara for sure as if I get paid RM2000 monthly, it will still be a burden, maybe a 4k salary would help. As u see, my car that is now paid by my dad using dirhams, is around 700bucks per month. If I decide to rent a place it would cost around 900-1000 bucks and food and entertainment will cost around 700 to 1000 every month. That’s about 3k overall. Damn it! So, still I have to seek financial aid from my FAMA scholarship. Sorry mum, sorry dad. Sorry because I did not study hard enough to secure a well paid job like big sis. Huhu. At least I managed to get a job rite? Anyway, I think I need to pay only for the car and not for the apartment rent. It will still be such a hassle because from the 2000 bucks, around 300 will be cut off for EPF, taxes and such. I also need to save 200/month to be put in my ASB [that is currently very low due to extreme expenditure]. So, 500 bucks gone. Salary left = RM1500. 700 will go to the car and 600 on food and cigs. And finally, only 200 will be left for leisure and entertainment.

There is a final conclusion, work sucks!! Student life rules!! [Because u get free money from Petronas every month].

UTP... oooo UTP

During my five year stint in UTP, fortunately it was blessed with wonderful events and superb small occasions. Being able to bond in a great environment and the world of friendship, the experience being a student in UTP is unforgetable. Till today, I'm not dissapointed in not going to France for the JPA scholarship, or even leaving UTP for several other reasons. This semester, hopefully is going to be my last, although quite a sober one, but frankly,
no extensions please (please help me GOD for my fyp)!!

There were things my friends and I did together whilst (did you watch Apprentice 11 yet?) in UTP ad some of them were so unforgettable moments. I really want to share with you guys all the great things we did together during our 5 year spell in this great and hot university, hehe..

Ok then, it all started rather simple. In our first semester till our last, we have a small stupid group that sticked together through all the rough and sweet moments, and we named the group "brothers". Not that it is being used formally, but we just called it like that sometimes. A lot of the stuffs we did actually were stupid but exciting enough for me to boast. It is like having a meal at Sithick, maybe Nasi Goreng Kambing, and although everyone has tried it, you still come back from Sithick and tell your friends how great the food was, duh! Back to the point, stuffs we did in UTP:

1) Penang Trip back in second semester
This was the first ever trip in my entire life going somewhere that is quite far (Penang is considered far when we were 18++). If i'm not mistaken, 15-20 of us came along during the Merdeka holidays. The plan was to celebrate Merdeka in Gurney Drive and until today, I'm still unfazed and unsure what the real plan was because we did not even managed to see the fireworks. You know why? Because we were stuck in a traffic jam.. Haha! But it was great as we stayed in a suite I guess, or a penthouse, or a fuckin LARGE room that had about 4 rooms in it. Even though i do not know what it is called, it was HUGE!! We played playstation, went swimming, even managed to find a carton of cigs in the kitchen, ate breakfast at the hotel and so on. In Penang, we basically drove around town, buying pirated CDs (that time there were no advertisements by K-Town Clan or Pop Shuvit so we thought it was legal) and hanging around eating expensive nasi kandars. We had fun there, seriously!
(no pictures taken bcoz digi cams were not invented yet this time)

2) Floyd Shohrat (2002-2006)
Floyd Shohrat - the name was given by me, Wafa and Paid. Getting the name Floyd from the CIA text book and Shohrat from and engraved name on Wafa's table in Baram (our block during 2nd sem). Currently known as the greatest Malay student football team. Qualified thrice for the semi finals and once for the final. The only thing was Floyd never won the league, sigh~! Anyway, this football team created a SOLID bond between all the players and the fans. Every game was the last game Floyd will ever play where all the fans will flock the field and chanting and shouting.. The bond is seriously a strong one and even today we call ourselves Floyderzz.. We have Floyd A,B,C and also D.. The spirit is so high that non of the other teams can match the spirit of Floyd Shohrat.. I will remember the moment of us playing football together, watching games while injured, going to BBQs and also wasting our time at Sithick together.



3) Jan 02 Batch Dinner
Not much to say here - one of the best nights in UTP. Laughing and taking pictures all night long. Having good food and also a funny performance by the Jubeez. Everyone was so cool that nite, wearing great outfits and great personality. It was a bomb!


4) Futsal Intercourse
We won the tournament - yes, I repeat we won! hehehe.. Our team name was Kumpulancapayam and Mmq was the captain. The team included Mmq,Wafa,Deck,Giggsy,Abg,Kedom and myself. It was the second tournament that we managed to become champions. Anyway, all of us took part. The main thing behind this tournament was that I organized the event and it was the first thing I've ever organized in my entire spell in UTP. It ended well, and I was more than happy. Thanks to everyone that made the event successful as hell - Floyderz especially for the support and help.


5) Euphonious 2006
Of all the events, this one was the funniest of all. We managed to include ourselves in the Euphonious, or maybe it can be called Battle of the Bands. Our band name was quite funny - Gengariongs. We did not manage to qualify for the finals but we had a wonderful time together practising and managed to perform well during the prelims. Thanks to all the supporters as well. Gengariongs - Mel, Wafa, Epoi, Matta, Nazya, Dab, KH, Arien..


6) UTP Treasure Hunt
We participated in the treasure hunt three times in a row and it went well. Now we know that we have a hidden talent in treasure hunting. Any lost items, or unsolved mysteries.. feel free to contact any of our treasure hunt group members - Wafa, Mmq, Giggsy, Wafa, Epoi and myself as well. We got 17th place during our 1st try, Champion during the 2nd time and third place last semester. When we became champion, it was one of the happiest day in my life, getting two grands and also being in the limelight for a moment..hehe!


7) Oasis Concert 2006 in Singapore
One of the weirdest thing that I did. Having not much money and since the concert was in Singapore, Giggsy and I managed to had our own version of Road Trip to Singapore. I only brought 100 bucks and we slept at a stupid cheap hotel that had their own prostitutes, walked more than I ever walk in my entire life, going to places that we did not have any idea where it was, walking at 3am in the morning in the middle of Singapore knowing nothing, and finally watched a fucking great concert by one ot the best bands in the world - OASIS! Besides Oasis, in 2004 we watched Incubus at Mount Kiara. It was a bomb but it was in KL so nothing special bout that..Hmm, and not to forget the great prodigy in Menara KL..


8) Freak accidents
One night, after completing our test, the six of us (Alan,Nazya,Mmq,Giggsy,Wafa,Arien) went back from Gerai Hantu with Alan's Waja. He sped around 140km/h and not knowing that there's a dead end along the road we drove. After hitting the brakes at full force, the tyres of the car locked and we did not managed to stop and we flew into a "gaung" (gaung lam english ape ek?) and had a rough bump for about 30metres. I thought I was going to die, everybody thought so. We only managed to see long grass in front of us as it was dark, really dark! Eventually, everyone was safe except for the car, hahaha.. The second one was while going back from Hantu..again! This time it was last semester. Mmq, Giggsy and me were in Mmq's car and he was driving for sure.. We drove and suddenly we hit something real hard and it was a fuckin cow, a friggin cow! and end of story. It was a night before our Adv Dbase exam and pity to Mmq and his car. I did not buckle up and I thought to myself if we were faster, maybe I would be much much injured. Thank god.


9) Raub
Not much to tell, when I was in second semester and had a fight with Huda. In order to amek hati and pujuk her, I went to Raub on a Wednesday morning with Wafa, Nazya and Mmq. Nice one! And at least Mmq and Nazya managed to have a look at SEMESTA, hahaha!

Surely there are a lot more events such as having picnics at Teluk Batik, Lata Kinjang and Ulu Chepor, wasting time and 'lepak2' at Sithick, playing snooker and lucky ball till 10am in the next morning, cirit fantasy and so on.. Too much to tell and I'm damn tired typing for the past 30 minutes.. Anyway, all of these remind me of one great thing.. that is the friends that I lived with in the past 5 years are the best and I cherish each and every moment of it!!

7th may 2006 - the day that made me feel how close we were

that morning, aku organize futsal tourney utk batch kitorang.. pnat nak mati kot setelkan everything including the drinks, prizes, fixtures, bola and so on (naseb a court soh aizat presiden).. x tdo that nite, after coming back from ipoh ari sabtu tu amek medal kt syarikat chong, tros kua g men snuker kat champion street lubang besa dab ngan alan ngan golo. tah ape mimpi alan nak men snuk.. dah tentu die kene titik, dahla xbawak duit.. cam xtau je aku konfem mng ngn die.. bodo nye gmok! anyway, futsal went well altho ujan lebat last nite till kol 8 pagi pon ujan g.aku dah agak cuak takut2 nnt xjadi plak futsal, pnatje xtdo but tuhan maha adil. disebabkan usahe aku yg gigih, die hadiahkan jugak hari yg cerah dan bes. alhamdulillah, bariong dah insaf! so, aku ckp budak2 turun pukul 830pagi..n aku dah expect dak2 akan turun at 9-930 camtuh and mmg konfem aku btol. ref today aku ngn paid sbb paid dah janji nak jadi ref, bkn cam markyie ngn pendek, hangat2 tahi ayam.. cam sialm turun tgk2 pas2 blah.

plg bes, aku xbajet la ramai gle budak2 turun altho aku soang yg ajak.. plg terharu dak2 floyd sume ade, including geng2 CS (dambel, matta, sudin, etc.).. dak2 umah xturun mmg aku tapak seko2.. tp sbrnye utk team2 yg masok ni, aku gune teknik kuku besi dan paksaan..dan pow soang rm5 utk kasi derang spirit sket.. so men la futsal tuh, berpenat lelah.. aku team mmq, yg diberi name kumpulan cap ayam.. kalo bace slow2 sket tau a maksud di belakang tabir.. hahaha, aku igt aku nak tangguk medal je sbb aku tau team mmq sure mng nye.. tp mase kitrang lwn team jub, aku ngn slipar, topi mancing markyie dan marker di tgn tros ckp kt dect.. weh dect, kua a aku nak men jap.. aku soh paid add lg 20saat.. aku pon lari2 ayam ke dpan gol.. bola time tuh kat kaki wafa, kt gol kitrang.. di gawang sniri la kire.. aku jerit "pa pa sepam".. wafa paham sbb aku sll wat camtuh.. so pa pon kasi longball cam xabialonso kt aku..aku tros head masok dr kacis kawasan D.. hahaha, gaye, men 10 saat dah score.. dak2 stret dtg pluk tande trime kaseh.. end of story.. finally, futsal pon tamat ngn team kitrang champ, team zrug 2nd, derang kalah 1-0 time final and aku yg jadi ref.. tp aku x bias arr.. anyway thanx to each and everyone of u yg dtg to the tournament..siyes aku berterime kasih..

so, lpas abes futsal lam kol 2 camtuh.. kitrang blk.. dah lebey kuang 26 jam aku xfia dr ari sabtu sbb futsal ni ahad..ptg kang lak dinner batch..remmethy tol! aku pon blk2 lepak2 n kol 330pm aku tdo.. kol 430 kene ade kt casuarina utk rehearsal performance the jubeez.. so, aku xtdo 330 sampai kol 430.. siap2 sume and kol 515 kitrang grak dr utp.. bet dah baka2 dah tp what to do, aku letey cam haram.. pnat gle.. mate aku dah merah2 menyale tande nak samekan ngn theme dinner red n black. so selain gelang livestrong aku, mmg mate aku la yg memerahkan kehitaman bajuku pade malam itu..kitrang pon grak berempat - aku, shiam, jub ngn mun.. baka gle tgk dadak len tgh fia cam haran..sampai2 je casuarina kitrang pon test2 bunyik..trening jub sket (plus baka2 jub sbb die nyanyi habat) and kol 7 camtuh nek bilik kat atas tuh nak besiap coz kol 8 dinner start. lam bilik tuh pnuh laa.. then tgh men2 gitar tbe2 azan kt tv1.. adeih, nak trning ni.. cuak plak nnt kene panah kilat men gitar time azan. shiam lak jadi saitan die baka aku soh tuka cenel.. aku tuka hbo pas2 layan muvi 5saat sambil shiam tanye..cite ape duh ni? jub pon jwb "king arthur aaaa".. ngn selambe kitrang sambung men gitar ngn nyanyi2 sbb kt tv xde azan..adeih, ape nak jadi umat akhir zaman.. ntahlaa, tanye la tuan punye idea iaitu shiham..hahahaha~ kitrang pon pas2 g amek2 baju sume mandi2 and bersiap.. aku plak bodo g mandi pakai jam..adeih.. sbb dah lame xde jam.. basah la jam aku, tp aku ltop je pakai..



mlm tuh mmg sume dress to kill aa.. penggunaan dress to kill ni monk yg aja aku soh pakai.. so aku pakai jelaa.. aku mmg triple j aaa (jin jang joe) ngn shirt itam ketatbakk, suar itam, kasut petak2 kuku itam, belt yg buckle die lg besa dr kpale gigsi, ngn jacket CK tebal nak mati..ramut cacak bakk.. wahahaha.. dak2 len pon tbe2 transform jd jinjang gak termasok jub, shiam ngn mun.. kitrang pon turun bwh ke paking nak ltak baju2 koto tuh n tros gerak g entrance.. dah ramai bakk dah oang.. rase segan lak sbb ramai gle stylo mylo.. adeihlaaa.. ngn bulu2 sunyo tuh, patung kecik beyo..nazya siap full suit.. wafa ngn baju bunge2, mmq ngn ramut xnak kalah reshmonu..teeos plak jadi a.c.a.b. wahahaha.. tp gigsi a slack.. baju same ngn berg..wahahahahahaha.. the guys were so fuckin handsome and the girls were damn gorgeous..so kitrang amek gamba sket2 tros masok dlm..

mase amek gamba tuh cam nice gle kot.. rase klaka ade..sdey sket2 ade.. tp mainly bes gile a session tuh.. amek gamba ngn watak2 pelik dan men ltop je amek sbb xde camera..yg ade camera time tuh, pendek, jub, pijakk, noran, sha, fina, ja dll.. byk tol camera sampai aku pon xigt sape punye..men ltop je.. beratus gak a amek gamba mlm tuh.. mmg gelak jer..jerit2 sampai xde suare..hahahaha..so lam kol 2 kitrang pon blk la sbb dah penat sgt.. aku drev, pa pon drev..sampai je bilik aku mandi2..pas2 tros rase nak hukum tdo cukok2.. sedar xsedar dah lebey kuang 39 jam camtuh xtdo g..then, aku pon tdo.. tdo ngn nice xbangun2 sampai kol 5 ptg keesokan harinyer..nicely done..

so, actually, 7th may was one of the best day in utp..cam memorable gle.. sgt penat, gelaktawa..klaka.. bes.. ntah laaa, ssh nak describe.. but mostly mmg best because dpt byk gle gamba mlm tuh.. wont forget u guys, everyone!! thanx a lot for making my life in utp.. one of the best!! eh no no, the best!! the best of the best!! hahahaha.. anyway, nnt aku post gamba sket2 laa,xdela byk cam sha nyer..xlarat la, hmm.. nnt lah..skg cam fiabawarooy.. hahaha (aku sll post gini kan, kate nak post tp xpos2 gak..cinata bakk.. tp yg ni aku post la nnt, 5-6 kping wahahaha).. chowballerz
